The young artist pays his homage to the fuzzy indie rock that inspired him, 90s acts such as Pavement, Sonic Youth and Mazzy Star are obviously the bands for a young man. An American rising star, John has released songs like “Tree of Life”, “The Wheels Keep Rollin’” and “ Things I Don’t Understand”, the Lexington, Kentucky indie artist is making an impact.

NEW YORK, NY. — Oct 2, 2019 — The turntable beatmaker and ‘Pioneer’ DJ MMFB proves that pop never loses its power as he pioneers his new ground smashing single ‘Close To Me’. According to a press release, the song is the being released on 4th October 2019. This is the first new studio music that the producer and DJ, is releasing since his July single ‘This Feeling’, which was the sequel to his 2018 full-length EP ‘Pioneer’.

“Successful people do what unsuccessful people are not willing to do. Don't wish it were easier, wish you were better,” advised super-producer, Marco M.F. Basso, when asked about his success in the DJ fraternity in such a short time. Born and bred in Chur, Switzerland, he has quickly risen to become one of dance music’s biggest names. “Before I was a DJ, I was my own apprentice,” he says tactfully. He spent hours on YouTube in teaching music to himself, where the music he learnt shaped him to be the unpredictable DJ he is today. “I want to leave my mark in the hearts of my audiences, make them sway on my beats and make them free with my music.”

While he was struggling, hostility from clubs was not enough to hold MMFB back: in 2018, he began releasing a slew of EPs in EDM and future house genre. In 2018 again, he scaled new heights with ‘Pioneer’, his debut EP. ‘Pioneer’ EP record collection proved to be the most worthy cornerstone exhibit in the museum of MMFB’s career. After the release, the DJ instantly shot to worldwide fame and was featured at the top 20th spot in a worldwide DJ contest and top 30 in a European DJ contest from MixCloud.

“I wanted to create music like others because I love to listen to music. I wanted to add my personal note to this industry and show what I'm capable of even if I cannot read music notes or play instruments,” he says in an inspirational tone. MMFB is free to make artistic choices as he pleases, having established his own label. “It took me many years from my initial step to get to where I am today. Even now, I struggle sometimes but I have learnt to never give up until I am done, no matter what happens.”

Marco M.F. Basso known with his stage name MMFB is a 23-year-old Switzerland DJ and producer who brings his set to a storming close at any venue. Since materializing with his first release in 2018, MMFB now has his own record label “‘Marco M. F. Basso”, a fan following of 100000 on social media & music platforms and a bag full of records to his name. Growing up, MMFB never had any music lessons but the music perfectionist used his free time to teach himself how to produce using the video platform YouTube. Switzerland’s cliquey club scene could be alienating, MMFB was rejected many times in the beginning but the artist never gave up on his dreams.

Album Review: Solo Piano Album 'Here With Me'- at his best, Sylvius is outstanding

We find ourselves in September, which seems like a perfect time to listen to pianist Sylvius’s new album 'Here With Me'. His unique approach suggests dedication indeed to this singular, sensuous body of music- romantic and beautifully cinematic. With refined, crystalline playing and charismatic persona, the artist takes over your soul with his music and leaves you yearning for true love. 

The album’s first sonata  'Our Adventure Begins', its a romantic’s work, propelled by soothing notes of love and clearly indebted to true passion towards someone. The musical piece makes you feel the moment of meeting your lover, finally to be one forever, like a fresh climax scene of happily ever after. 

The pianist’s imagination draws the best of his playing, the sonata 'Moments of Beauty' takes you back to the first time you fell in. The delicate nausea of being immersed in the thoughts of a beautiful face and floating around in the air in slow motion. The feeling of ecstasy at the hands of this solo piano piece that makes you close your eyes and forget yourself in emotions. Personally, I enjoyed each second reviving the memories of innocent love. 

The title sonata 'Here With Me' which plays soulfully out of the speakers, the piano getting evermore intimate as Sylvius sends joyous little flourishes up the keyboard. If you are sitting alone, this piece will make you miss your sweetheart more as you realise the distance from each other. The last-minute of the sonata is the best, slightly woodier and lighter-sounding than a modern grand, it is ideally balanced with affection.

'Onwards and Upwards' is a few minutes longer than the others, but it offers the spirit and expressive freedom of a new journey. Filled with uplifting soulful music on the disc; it does until a huge and incongruous mood-swing into cheeriness in the middle. This sure is the hippity-hop tone you need when you set out on an adventure.

Who is Marco Basso (MMFB)?

The 22-year-old Marco Basso was born on 6th October 1996 in  Chur (Graubünden), Switzerland. Famously known with the artist title of ‘MMFB’, he loved listening to his father's CD collection and started focusing on Virtual DJ ( a DJ software) at the tender age of 13. A music lover from the beginning, MMFB started working as a DJ in his teens. His first main accomplishment came with the EP ‘Pioneer’ which he released on 25th Feb 2018 through his own music warehouse  “Marco M.F. Basso”. Pioneer went on to become a huge hit after which there was no turning back for the maverick star DJ.

Early Years

After moving to Safnern (Bern), Switzerland in 2000, MMFB tried producing for the FL Studio but was never successful to finish his own track; however, with the advancement in technology, he did publish many mixes and mashups on music platforms like SoundCloud and MixCloud.  The young artist switched to novation Launchpad in 2016 and started the evolution of music using the grid systems. Making a change to novation Launchpads introduced MMFB to software music sequencer and digital audio workstation, the Ableton Live. Referring to his skills in music, Marco’s considers YouTube to be his musical guru in learning software.
